FAQ

What bento box should I use? Which one do you use?

There are a million and six types of boxes out there (OK, that isn't an exact figure) for you to use. Many are just open boxes that you can pack multiple things in together. My kids prefer their food to be separated so I use the Lock N Lock boxes as they are 4 separate squares. I use all 4 squares some days or take 2 out to put in a half a sandwich or larger items.
Where do you get your supplies?

Mainly eBay. I am always on the lookout though and pick up things at dollar stores and stores like Daiso. Don't forget you can use regular cookie cutters - or even those that come with playdough (I do suggest you wash those bad boys though, unless you like really salty food).

I'm just starting out - what should I get?

Start small. Get a few cutters, some food picks and some small silicon cups. Then use your imagination! It doesn't have to look perfect, your kids will love it regardless.  Use blueberries for eyes or cut up some fruit leather for a face. If you are feeling bold, make a whole theme lunch! My kids also love the little containers (in bento land, they are referred to as "mayo containers" or "mayo cases") to hold dip, salsa, salad dressing for veggies etc. Making things fun makes them interested in eating.
